Contribution to NUTS ISSUE ONE: Nothing, Everything
Sentimentalism behind our clothes a project by La princesa Maria for NUTS ISSUE ONE: Nothing, Everything. Director and producer: La princesa Maria Photography: Juan B Cano Styling: Andrea Rivera Models: Elisa Correa, Sofia Uribe. Choosing our clothes is a way of materializing a part of our soul, our character. Our favorite clothes are often domesticated; Tamed by time, experiences and emotions. Every time we stumble upon a new item that manages to catch our attention, we safe keep it— guard it like a precious stone— its a valuable piece to add to our collection. Dressing for oneself is the best way to develop a sense of style. Get imaginative enough with the process of appareling to the point where it stops seeming like a mere routine obligation; instead, it becomes a creative exercise, one which allows us to establish our identities; because it’s not as easy as buying your identity by buying a brand. Powerful objects become leitmotifs, go-to pieces, items which are not just ecologically, but most importantly, spiritually sustainable. We implemented the following styling dynamic for the shoot: each person of the team was to bring an assortment of their dearest garments, all emotionally charged pieces; from there we simply started playing with clothes, set a mood which evolved organically, in the end created somewhat ironic, yet very serious ensambles.
